IRS LT18 Notice: Installment Agreement Pending

The LT18 confirms the IRS received your installment agreement request and it's pending review. While the request is pending, the IRS generally suspends active collection. You won't be levied while they're considering your payment plan proposal.

What to Do While Waiting

Continue making any payments you can. Voluntary payments while the IA is pending demonstrate good faith and reduce your balance. File all required tax returns on time. Make estimated tax payments if applicable. Any compliance failure while the IA is pending can result in rejection.

Processing Time

Streamlined installment agreements (balances under $50,000) are typically approved within days if submitted online. Non-streamlined agreements requiring financial disclosure (Form 433-A or 433-F) can take several weeks to several months. If you haven't heard back within 60 days, call the number on the LT18 for a status update.

If your IA is pending and you have questions, call us at (813) 229-7100.
