Original assignment and digital verification

The original CP575A-J notices record a newly assigned EIN. The IRS also offers a digital CP575 through Business Tax Account as written verification of the number. That digital document can substitute for the original notice series or Letter 147C.

If you lost the original

The IRS does not recreate the original CP575A-J notice. Eligible account users can download the digital verification instead. Another option is Letter 147C.

Keep a reliable business record

Retain the confirmation permanently. Compare it with the EIN and legal name used on business returns and banking documents. If a lender asks for an IRS letter, clarify which verification formats it accepts before ordering additional records.

This confirms the entity's EIN; do not present it as a statement that all tax returns and payments are current. For that different purpose, see the business tax compliance report.
